Take Back the Night is a national movement aimed at increasing awareness of sexual and domestic violence.
Sunday, April 17
- The Clothesline Project 5-7 PM at Baker 333 brings stories of domestic violence to light by displaying T-shirts made by women. Join the Sexual Assault Prevention Club in making a shirt!
Monday, April 18
- TBTN Kick-Off at the Front Room at 7:00 PM: Come and enjoy free food and performances by Allison Woods and Kaitrin McCoy. Make posters for Thursday’s march and rally, and kick-off Take Back the Night!
Tuesday, April 19
- Self-Defense Class at the Women's Center at 7-9 PM: Come join trainer Cheryl Cesta in a lesson in self-defense!
- Men's Event at 7 PM (Location TBD)
- Name Burning at 9 PM at Howard Hall: A survivor name burning ceremony will be held at the lawn at Howard Hall near Voigt Hall and Hudson.
Wednesday, April 20
- Brown Bag Lunch at the Women's Center at 12 PM with the evening's speaker Aishah Shahidah Simmons.
- "No, The Rape Documentary" at the Baker Theater at 6 PM: Movie screening and discussion with filmmaker Aishah Shahidah Simmons. She’s been on the international road raising awareness about rape, sexual assault, and other forms of violence against women; and the critical need to end it.
Thursday, April 21
- Brown Bag Lunch at the Women's Center at 12 PM: Sexual Empowerment and Sexual Insecurity in College Age Women: A presentation by Mallory Long, Kristina Rose and Arianna Illif.
- Take Back the Night March & Rally at Scripps Amphitheater at 7:30 PM: Come hear speakers and performances by Title IX, and Take Back the Night by marching across campus to end the violence.
Take Back the Night is coordinated by Ohio University's Student Senate's Women's Affairs Commission with help from the Women's Center, SAC, the Survivor Advocacy Program, PAGE, the Sexual Assault Prevention Club, and the Office of Off-Campus Living
