National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS)

Click here for new data from the CDC concerning sexual violence, stalking, and intimate partner violence or adult men and women in the United States. Some statistics from the report: 

  • 24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States.
  • Nearly 1 in 5 women have been raped in their lifetime, and 1 in 71 men have been raped in their liftetime.
  • About 80% of women experienced their first rape before the age of 25 and almost half experienced their first rape before age 18.
  • 1 in 4 women have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner, and 1 in 7 men have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner.
