September is Campus Safety Month and October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month! There are several events coming up on campus and in the community.

Thursday, September 29: Starting the conversation - Brown Bag Lunch and Learn with Alex Leslie from Men Can Stop Rape. 12-1pm in OU Women's Center.

Thursday, September 29: Putting words into actions - Bystander intervention Training by Alex Leslie of Men Can Stop Rape. 7:00pm, Bentley 140.

Saturday, October 1st: Walk a Mile in Her Shoes - A march for men to end violence against women. Meet at Baker 4th floor at 11:30 am. For more information, contact Thomas Raabe at tr411206@ohio.edu. There is still time to sign up for the march!

Wednesday, October 12 and Monday, October 17:
Survivor Advocacy Programs at Baker Student Center

Stop by the first floor in Baker from 11am-1pm to find information about domestic violence, the Ohio University Survivor Advocacy Program and My Sister's Place!

Mondays in October: Self Defense course with Cheryl Cesta

There will be a 4 session self defense course for women and girls ages 13 and up at Vinton County High School during the month of October. Classes will start October 3rd and continue through October 24th from 6:00 - 8:15 pm. You must register in advance for all four classes! Throughout October: Displays at local libraries

There will be informational displays about domestic violence at the following libraries during the month of October:

Athens Public Library - Nelsonville Public Library -The Plains Public Library - Vinton County Public Library

Thursday, October 20th: Domestic Violence Panel Discussion

Join the Sexual Assault Prevention Program, OU Survivor Advocacy Program and My Sister's Place for a panel discussion about domestic violence. The panel will take place from 6:30-8pm in Baker 231. Panelists include a survivor of domestic violence and representative from My Sister's Place and the community. More information to come!
